Not that Banksy could be seen as UGC. Just the fact that it really makes you question who the commissioning author was. You could mess with a brand or business quite badly like this I imagine.

cliff jumping

I'm reading The Dip at the minute. I got to page 25 tonight (I've only just started it) about how Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid got ahead of their competitors (the Pinkerton posse) by not quiting at incredibly hard challenges where as their competitors did. They jumped the cliff in other words.

I wrote a blog post in my head with a youtube clip of the jump (the best I could find was this film in 5 seconds), as much to bookmark the thought for myself as anything else.

Then I got home and found that Lee had kindly pointed me to Niel's Wieden + Kennedy post that coincendently ended...

The kids call it tombstoning I think. It's just a case of finding the right cliff to jump now. Or the right ball to punt.

I've had another idea to. (I need to flesh out the ideas bit of this blog some more).

This one's for a motivating start of year booklet for someone like howies or innocent. Basically 98% of it is taking stock of where you are at the start of the year and appreciating what you have.

Then the last page is a call to action to go off and achieve another load of big wins.

It's not so much my idea as it's been adapted from this.

Would still be nice though.

You could pick up the same thread again half way through the year with another 'breathe in' and update on how you're doing on the targets then another breathe out let's go and do this.

take a punt

I've had by first big above the line idea. If fucking epic (just as they have to be these days).

It starts with loads of different people drop kicking balls in the air (professional sports men, amateur goal keepers on a sunday morning, kids on the street, people on dusty pitches in Africa etc). No music just really crisp sound of the balls being toe punted.

Then ends with all the balls coming down at once around the founder of the company who doesn't flinch (this might need a few takes). It sounds like thunder. Then the words 'take a punt' appear in silence.

It would have to be for a bit of a contender sports brand like Pony or someone.

I don't know why I thought of it. I don't even like sport.

I found this facinating for some reason. Kind of like the blogging equivalent of that surround sound camera effect they perfected in the Matrix. The exact same event from two different angles.
